Ginny's first haircut - 7/27/2012

Lily setting a good example for her little sister

The "before" shots...it was so long on top, she couldn't even see!  Her baby-hawk had gotten pretty out of control...

"I'm not so sure about this, Mom"

She did pretty well sitting in my lap, only got squirmy right at the end.

Happy Birthday, Ginny Binny!

To celebrate Ginny's first birthday, we had a block party cookout in our back yard, the first time we have hosted our neighbors since we moved into our home.  It was a really good turnout (I was worried I would run out of food!) and we had about 50 people here, mostly neighbors with a few of our good friends from playgroup.  Ginny got a stand-up water play table from Mommy and Daddy, and we also had a baby pool, multiple slip-n-slides, and lots of tents and fans to help everyone stay cool.  Ginny definitely knew that the party was all for her and she enjoyed all the attention.

eating Mommy's homemade macaroni and cheese - one of her favorites!

She was such a little lady with her cake...she enjoyed it, but mostly just ate the strawberries and frosting off.

She did end up getting a little messy though!

Congratulations, Auntie Tara Williams!

We have had so much happen over the past couple of weeks in our family.  On June 23rd, Auntie Tara and Uncle Justin tied the knot at the family's farm in Madison, GA.  Lily and her new cousin Audrey were the flower girls, and they were so cute I couldn't stop taking pictures of them, even though I missed the entire ceremony because first Lily had a meltdown when her flower basket tipped over, and then Audrey had to go potty during the vows/kiss.  But I heard it was a beautiful wedding, and it was definitely a fun party afterwards!

New York City! New York City!

Lily was running around the house chanting "New York City!  New York City!" for weeks before our actual trip to see Uncle Josh, Auntie Sarah, Abby, and Amelia.  It was Ginny's first flight, Lily's first that she could remember, and they also got to ride the ferry and the subway!  It was a fast visit but really fun, and looooong overdue.  Here are a couple of highlights, but when I ask Lily what her favorite part about New York is, she yells "ABBY!"

And Ginny's...she didn't quite know what to think at first, but she warmed up to it pretty quickly and was waving at everybody

Horsing Around

We went out to Great Aunt Libby's house over Memorial Day weekend, where Lily found a new friend.  T.D. (Tiny Dancer) is the most ancient, crotchety little horse I know.  I'm not quite sure how old he is, but he is definitely older than me so that makes him at least 30.  He doesn't even live in a pasture anymore, just wanders around Aunt Libby's yard and hangs out on her back porch until it's suppertime, when he goes back to his barn.  I was a little bit nervous about Lily walking up to him with no fence to separate them, especially since he wasn't always the friendliest during my childhood, but she won him over right away.  She fed him apples all by herself (keeping her hand flat so she wouldn't get nipped) and some dog food too.  :}
