Milk Face

Ever since Lily was born, we have loved and admired her 'milk face,' i.e., the blissfully comatose expression she gets right after she finishes nursing. It used to happen after every meal, but as she is getting older and more energetic, she shows us her milk face less and less, so we figured we would catch one on camera and share it before the milk face disappears forever.

Well, I guess there's always next year!

Lily wore her Packers outfit for the last time last Sunday afternoon, and even though we were all sad with the outcome of the game against the Cardinals, she still managed to cheer us up with a smile.

New Years in Valpo

After a great visit, we said goodbye to the South...

...and made the long 16-hour trek back into the cold North to spend New Years with the Adams crew. We had a lovely dinner at Strongbow the first night, where Lily got to see her cousin Abby again! They started making some serious cuteness right away.

On New Year's Eve, Lily decided to practice her "monster face," hoping that someday it will be as good as Abby's. She makes this face while she is chowing down on Mommy or Daddy's knuckle, which leads us to wonder if she is getting the world's earliest tooth!

We had a great New Year's Eve party at Nana Great's house, with a prime rib dinner and nymphs! Lily looked so pretty in her dress from Nana and her silver shoes from Auntie Sarah. Night owl that she is, we thought she would easily make it until midnight, but...

...she decided to turn in shortly before the ball dropped. And, for the first time in as long as I can remember, so did I!

We were sound asleep in the basement to ring in the New Year, so we unfortunately missed this moment which Jake thankfully captured on camera:

On New Years day, Lily and Abby entertained everyone with cute antics on the table, and then we re-energized and geared up for the new year with a morning cup of coffee (empty again, don't worry). 2010, here we come!!!

Visiting Great Grandma

After the baby dedication on Sunday, we headed to SC to visit with Great Grandma (who was very happy to see Lily!), Great-Uncle Jimbo, and the Wessinger cousins.

Foodie in the making

Like any good Mangerson, Lily has taken a healthy interest in all things food and drink. She is really into playing with cups, spoons, plates, and whatever is on them if you aren't watching her. Here she is trying to drink out of my glass (which was thankfully just emptied) and eyeing up a plate of oatmeal raisin cookies. Something tells me she will have a great appetite when we are ready to eat solids!

Ho Ho Ho...it's Santa Baby!

Christmas Morning

On Christmas morning, Lily enjoyed opening her presents (or having them mostly opened for her, although she thought the bows were delicious). She played on her sweet activity mat from Gram and Papa, and finished the morning off with a huge Christmas poop up the back. :} All in all, a very successful first Christmas!

Christmas in Vidalia

We enjoyed our visit to the Sweet Onion City for Lily's first Christmas...it was a really long drive, but it was so worth it, and Duke was very happy we didn't fly so that he could come with us and play with his BC Morrison. Lily finally got to snuggle with her Auntie T, who didn't get to hold her during our last visit in November since she was a walking bronchitis germ. :)

Since there were a total of 5 dogs (yes, 5!) with all of us home for Christmas, Lily got plenty of practice with one of her new favorite skills...petting doggies! The usual victim is Duke, of course, who graciously stands still while Lily pats him, but Saucisse got some of the attention too...

On Christmas Eve, Lily joined us at the table (and then on the table) for dinner. Auntie Lizza made Julia Child's recipe for French Onion soup, and it was fabulous and very cheesy.

Later she snuggled with Daddy while we read the Christmas story, and, after taking some cheesy pictures with Mommy in matching pajamas, she gave us the best Christmas present we could hope for...a Silent Night. For the first time ever (and the only time to date), she went down in her crib by herself and stayed there until 6:30...wow! Of course, I hardly slept a wink because I was wondering what had happened, but it made for a very happy (though sleepy for Mommy) Christmas morning.

Home from the holidays

Hello all! We are back from our long trip visiting family and friends down South and in Indiana. Lily had a great time, and she was a trooper on the 16-hour car ride, but we are very happy to be home at last so that we can get settled back into some semblance of a daily routine (and hopefully start sleeping through the night)! A big thank you to everyone who fed and housed us during our journey! We miss you already!
