Flown South for the week!
Lily and Mommy are currently enjoying a week in the deep (and warm!) South with Nana and Papa, and then we will be headed to Rhinelander for Turkey Day, so we probably won't be posting for a while...check back in with us after Thanksgiving!!

Splish Splash, Lily's taking a bath!
According to 'What to Expect the First Year,' most newborns dislike being naked and will require a certain period of adjustment before tolerating a bath. Well, little Miss Lily does not fit that description when it comes to her tub time. She resembles her cousin Ryder in that she loves to be sans diaper, and from the first time we set her in her blue and green whale tub she has been a total water baby. She loves it...she kicks her chubby legs, tries to drink the water while I am washing her face, and watches Duke who insists on being present for every bath. Since it also soothes her when she is fussy and she is the spit-up/unexpected explosive poop queen, Lily ends up taking a LOT of baths...let's hope she always enjoys it!!

QT with Daddy
Jake and Lily have a great time together after he comes home from work and on the weekends. I love watching them play--he is such a great dad, and it gives me a bit of "mommy time" to enjoy little personal luxuries like bathing. :)
Well Daddy, even if the Packers are awful this week, at least you've got an adorable football-watching buddy on your lap to distract you!

Playtime with Duke
Big brother Duke is starting to adjust to his new role in the family, and he is quite taken with Lily. He lays by the rocking chair while I am feeding her, he supervises most diaper changes to make sure I am doing a good job, he gives her waaay too many sloppy kisses, and lately he has been trying to participate in her play-time. I must admit that I am somewhat terrified by the proximity of those giant paws, and I won't be letting him babysit any time soon, but I am very proud of his efforts to have fun with his lil' sis and I hope this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Happy Halloween!
The Sunday before Halloween, Uncle James came over and we all walked in the Roscoe Village Halloween Parade. There were lots of really cute kids in costumes and at least a dozen other Dalmatians, but Lily was the only one with a Duke to match! *To anyone who objects to us dressing our child like our dog, know that we were not the only ones! There was also a little two-legged Bernese Mountain dog running around with her four-legged companion.* I hope Lily had fun, but it's hard to tell since she slept through the whole thing...that costume was really cozy!

Happy 80th Birthday, Nana Great!!!
Nana Great had her 80th birthday celebration at Strongbow on October 17, so our 3 1/2-week-old Lily got to experience her first fancy party and her first big Adams family gathering all in one night! We were so proud to have her there. :)
Our little punkin had fun playing in the hotel room with Uncle James and Auntie Ali before the party...
...and taking a bath with Mommy and getting dressed with Daddy.
At the party, she had sleepy time,
play time,
and time spent with the guest of honor!
Lily also got to know her cousin Abby, since she and Auntie Sarah spent a few days with us in Chicago before the big weekend. Mommy was super cheesy and got them matching shirts - don't they look too cute?
Weeks 2 and 3
Lucky Lily got visits from Grandpa Mark and Grandma Bev, who made some great meals for Mom and Dad..
...and from Aunt Lizza (aka Aunt Bunghole), who learned how to hold a baby and a glass of wine at the same time. :)
She also worked on her beauty sleep!
